On June 16, 2006, Mike was doing what he loves most in the world~training a race horse! One minute, friends saw him go by at a full gallop. Thirty minutes later, he was found unconscious and barely breathing. Mike endured an emergency helicopter ride to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Unit where doctors determined he had suffered a severe brain injury and was placed in ICU in critical condition. After three weeks, Mike was transferred to Kernan Rehabilitation Center, then Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation. He returned home in October ‘06 and continues to work on his recovery. We have experienced much hope and joy as we have witnessed Mike's miraculous journey towards recovery. Mike IS A MIRACLE (the exact words of his neurologist) and continues to surprise his health care providers. Mike faces each day with courage, faith and perseverance; his new job consisting of physical therapy and theraputic riding. Mike is currently undergoing Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and is experiencing great progress! FOR THOSE WHO HAVE OFFERED ASSISTANCE, A "MIKE REA RECOVERY RELIEF FUND" HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED TO HELP WITH MIKE'S MEDICAL AND DAILY NEEDS.

One Tired Man

Good evening everyone. Mike had a wonderful time with Rochelle and Baby Gracie today. They didn't get to have lunch with their dear friend but scheduled another lunch date for later. So they ran errands, ate lunch, and had special coffee's. Then it was time for them to go get the other children at school. Mike got to meet classmates, teachers, and the principle. He said they all had nice things to say about the children. Jesse's soccer game was at 4pm. Mike was sitting on the side lines in his wheelchair. He told me he wanted to stand up and show everyone that he could stand. Rochelle was with the two little ones in the grass and saw what Mike was fixing to do and rushed over to him and told him he couldn't do that right now, especially when she wasn't right there. Just call him Speedy Gonzales. He is always in a hurry to do everything. Mike enjoyed the game but said the field is so much bigger than Hunter's. So much running back and forth. After the game they had dinner in a restaurant. Mike said Jesse fell asleep on the way back. I was there to meet them to help Mike with his shower. He just wanted to lay down and rest awhile before his shower. He was very tired but would do it all again tomorrow if he could. Finally I told him it was getting late and it was time for his shower. I left him sleeping like a baby. He'll probably sleep all night tonight. He wants to go to Hunter's karate class tomorrow evening, but I told him we'll just have to wait and see how he is doing from being out all day today.

Now the camera arrived but I didn't know that it was not coming to the hotel. Nancy mailed it to Sunbrigde. With us not being there all day the office was locked tonight. So it will be tomorrow when I take that picture of the wall of cards. Nancy put the birthday video on the photo album but I can't get it to play and it's to late to call her about it. She had told me it kept locking up on her and to see what I got. Hey, I didn't get anything to show. So all will be fixed tomorrow I'm sure.

Well it is time to close for the evening. Thank you for all your well wishes and prayers. God bless everyone.

I'm so glad you will be able to go home this weekend for an overnighter. What's better than a campout in the living room! I hope there will be s'mores served. Enjoy being home Mike, it won't be long before you'll be home for good. God Bless on your road to recovery. A Fan of Barbaro and a Fan of Mike Rea!!
