Mike continues to improve. When he has his moments of “agitation,” it is hard for all of us. We have to keep reminding ourselves that “This too shall pass!” and is part of the recovery process. Rochelle and the kids will be visiting today. They will be leaving right after church and driving straight in. Mike spoke to Hunter yesterday and wished him a Happy Birthday during his party. They talked about seeing each other today. He’ll hate me for this, but….Mikey was so cute last night. He asked Mom if Cathy could come early and make sure he looked okay for today. Now that’s a sign he is improving! Cathy is with him now, seeing that he is clean shaven, hair fixed and dressed in his best sweats! Laura, my daughter, got to speak with Mike yesterday too. Uncle Mikey has always been her favorite (I’m gonna get in trouble here). She and Mike had a wonderful conversation. He asked her about her travels and she said had she not known about his injuries, she would never have guessed there was anything wrong! We all love the moments like that!
Cathy will post later and let everyone know about the visit!
In the meantime, thank you Jack Ireland from The News Journal for writing a wonderful story about Mike! Here is the link:
The News Journal Article.
Sandra McKee from The Baltimore Sun mentioned Mike in an article too. I can't get it to link, so cut and paste the following to read: http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/horseracing/bal-barbaro18,1,7563337.story. Unfortunately, Sheilagh Barndollar was misquoted. She said, “We all care about Barbaro, but there is a good person who needs us more right now.” Not, “We don’t care about Barbaro.” Fortunately, for all of us who know Sheilagh, we knew better.
Thank you all for your continued support and prayers! Nancy
